While we are fortunate to have several scholarship funds that have been established to maintain the special elements of our programs, help support our continued growth, and assist our students, the PCE is currently only able to support about 10% of our students. In times of ever-rising education costs, your support could help us grow these funds, support many more students, and provide the same outstanding experience each of our alumni had while studying at GVSU.

Historically Black College/University (HBCU) / Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) Pipeline Consortium Scholarship Fund

About the Fund

The HBCU/HSI Pipeline Consortium Scholarship was established to assist students who transferred or graduate from institutions with a collaborative articulation agreement between Grand Valley State University with the cost of their education. This scholarship will prepare students for successful careers, and help diversify the talent pipeline for West Michigan employers.

Engineering Student Experience Fund

About the Fund

This fund supports student and faculty development through project-based learning and participation in professional engineering societies. Supported activities may include: students’ projects, regional and national competitions, conferences, and workshops.

Dr. Eric L. Van Fleet Occupational and Safety and Health Endowed Scholarship

About the Fund

In recognition of his achievements and commitment to Grand Valley, the university created an endowment scholarship to honor Dr. Eric Van Fleet, who led the OSH program for 17 years. Dr. Van Fleet guided our program through its formative years and helped put it on the path to distinction. He was instrumental in helping our OSH program achieve ISHM recognition and was widely recognized for his contributions to our field.

About the Fund

All GVSU students pursuing an undergraduate engineering degree must complete the integrated cooperative education program. The co-op program has led to national recognition and a 100% job placement for our graduates.

Proceeds from this fund will assist in underwriting the costs of developing and maintaining the relationships and infrastructure needed to support our co-op program.

Innovation Design Center

About the Fund

Support is needed for the Innovation Design Center for Engineering. Grand Valley is the primary talent pipeline for engineers in our region. Community demand has led to a 40% growth rate in Grand Valley’s engineering program over the past few years, and we have outgrown current facilities.

This fund supports children’s mobility service projects completed by the College of Engineering and Computing.

STEPS (Science, Technology, and Engineering Preview) Camp

Solar Racing Team

Established by friends and family of Ken Platteschorre, this endowment supports the FIRST Robotics program in West Michigan coordinated by GVSU. “Not many people can say they inspired hundreds of students to pursue STEM-related careers over two decades but Ken did exactly that. Medical Mask Project

Medical Mask

About the Fund

Faculty, staff, and students from the Grand Valley State University School of Engineering (SOE) and applied Medical Device Institute (aMDI), along with members of their families, banded together to design and sew approximately 1,000 facial masks in response to the shortage of supplies for medical professionals responding to the coronavirus outbreak. The masks were donated to American Family Care urgent care, Cherry Health System, Beacon Networks, as well as other institutes and individuals in need. A gift of any size is appreciated to support the resources needed for this project!
