Application & Program Information
The GVSU PAS program uses the Central Application Service for Physician Assistants (CASPA) for the application process. CASPA was established in 2001 and is a service of the Physician Assistant Education Assocation (PAEA). The CASPA application process simplifies the PA school application process by allowing students to apply to several programs with only one application.
Important Reminders
- Applicants may apply to the Grand Rapids OR Traverse City Campus. Applicants are NOT permitted to apply to both campuses.
- Applicants are responsible for ensuring they meet all application requirements.
- The GVSU supplemental application and all CASPA documents must be completed and received on or before the September 1 application deadline.
Applicants are considered without regard to age, gender, sexual orientation, race, color, national origin, religion, political beliefs, or disability.
Applicants must meet certain health and technical standards that demonstrate their capacity to function as a physician assistant.
Applicants must meet all Grand Valley State University health compliance requirements, as verified through approved health screening processes, to ensure the safety of students, faculty, and patients. Health compliance requirements are determined by the GVSU Office of Health Compliance in collaboration with the academic program and in accordance with university policy, state and federal statutory regulations, accreditation standards, and affiliation agreements with healthcare organizations. Requirements may change based on regulatory changes, affiliation agreements, or applicable laws. Applicants should be aware that approved medical or religious vaccine exemptions may limit or prevent access to required clinical placements and could delay progression or completion of the clinical phase of the PAS Program.
Admission to the Physician Assistant Studies program is competitive. The criteria for admission involve three steps: Application, Interview, and Acceptance.

Pass/Fail or Credit/No Credit Information
Please note that some of the College of Health Professions programs require prerequisite courses to be completed with LETTER (A, B, C) or NUMERICAL (4.0, 3.0, 2.0) grades. Prerequisite courses completed with Pass/Fail or Credit/No Credit will not fulfill some program's admissions requirements. Some programs accept AP credit (advanced credit) as the exception.
