Trade the classroom for the trail and spend Fall Break exploring Great Smoky Mountains National Park! Hike scenic mountain ridges, discover hidden waterfalls, camp beneath star-filled skies, and experience the outdoors like never before. This adventure is perfect for students looking to explore an iconic National Park, meet new friends, and escape the stress of campus life. No matter your experience level, you'll build outdoor skills, create lasting memories, and enjoy some of the most breathtaking views in the country. Step out of your comfort zone, disconnect from technology, and reconnect with nature on this epic Smoky Mountains hiking and camping expedition.

Dates: October 23 - 26, 2026

Cost:  $200 pp

Includes: Transportation, tent camping, group camp equipment, meals while in camp (breakfasts + dinners)

Mandatory Pre-Trip Meeting: Tuesday, October 20; 7:15pm

Registration Opening Friday, September 11 at 8am

GVSU students may seek financial support for up to $100 per academic year towards participation in Recreation & Wellness programs or services, while funds last. Details and application may be found on the RecWell Program Fund website.
