Undergraduate Research Council

The Undergraduate Research Council (URC) is an elected University committee which advises and directs undergraduate research at the University, and reviews and approves S3 and MS3 proposals.

Composition: Faculty membership of the URC consists of four members from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, one from each of the remaining colleges, and one from the library. One student representative selected by the Student Senate. The Provost or designee is ex officio, non-voting.

Term: Three-years, staggered for those colleges with two or more representatives, beginning at the end of the winter semester. Student representative term is one year.

Expectations: 

  1. Attend and actively participate in regular URC meetings
  2. Be a liaison with their respective colleges 
  3. Complete Fall Research Intensive review process
  4. Complete Winter Summer Scholars review process
  5. Attend the Undergraduate Research Fair in the fall
  6. Attend Student Scholars Day in the winter
  7. Attend the Student Summer Scholars Showcase in the summer, if local
