The MSOT curriculum is responsive to the needs of our students, the profession of occupational therapy, the health care system and its consumers, and local practitioners. The traditional delivery model is two-years in length and the hybrid delivery model offers the same courses spread across three academic years. 

The program offers a developmental curriculum with students completing a series of foundational courses prior to enrolling in courses/labs that address pediatric, mental health, adult, and older adult populations, diagnoses, and practice settings. 

THe OST faculty approach teaching and learning in a manner that is focused on preparing students for the demands of entry-level practice. This is demonstrated through immersing students in experiential learning that encourage critical thinking and clinical reasoning. Examples of experiential learning include facilitating groups on-site with a community partner organization, five laboratory courses built around hands-on practice, and a variety of simulation events where students carry out occupational therapy practice skills with standardized patients.

Fieldwork 

Fieldwork experiences are intentionally integrated throughout the curriculum to support the developmental progression from foundational knowledge to entry-level competence. Level I fieldwork introduces students to a variety of practice settings and populations while reinforcing course content through observation and guided participation. Level II fieldwork provides immersive, full-time clinical experiences where students demonstrate increasing independence, clinical reasoning, and professional competence under the supervision of licensed occupational therapy practitioners.
