GVSU's Student Occupational Therapy Association (SOTA) promotes activities that support various occupational therapy student priorities. SOTA informs members of professional development opportunities, continuing education/learning opportunities, and campus-wide events particularly relevant to OT students. SOTA sponsors programs and forums of particular importance to OT students. SOTA promotes occupational therapy on the Grand Valley State University campus through public relations events, fund-raisers, and volunteer services. SOTA hopes to continue its fundraising efforts in order to enhance its budget to subsidize student attendance at state, regional and national conferences.

The purposes of PTE, as stated in the Society’s national Constitution, are: 

• To recognize and encourage scholastic excellence of occupational therapy students. 

• To contribute to the advancement of the field of occupational therapy through scholarly activities of students and alumni. 

• To provide a vehicle for students enrolled in accredited programs in occupational therapy to exchange information and to collaborate regarding scholarly activities. 

The mission of PTE is to support the practice of occupational sciences and the practice of authentic occupational therapy by promoting research, leadership, and scholarly activities by its members. In this way, the organization serves not only the profession but helps to ensure quality health care services for the public.

Debra McKee Memorial Scholarship - Application deadline is March 1.  

Theresa McKee Occupational Therapy Scholarship - Application deadline is December 15th.

Bandstra Health Sciences Scholarship - Application deadline is May 1.

Bandstra Clinical Sciences Scholarship - Application deadline is May 1.

Denise Meier Memorial Scholarship - Application deadline is February 15th.
