Are You Ready For Online Learning?

Grand Valley State University offers programs in a variety of formats. Online programs allow you to further your education without coming to campus. With due dates and assignment deadlines in mind, you set the schedule for when you are reviewing course content, participating in discussions, and completing assignments. Although there may be "live" class meetings or online office hours, for the most part, you will be directing your own learning and participating on your own time. In comparison, hybrid programs reduce the time you are required to be on campus, while providing a blend of online and in-seat activities. Low-residency programs limit the in-person sessions and are delivered primarily online.

Getting Started with Online Learning at GVSU

In online learning, it can be very easy to fall into the "out of sight, out of mind" mentality when you don't have a specific campus place and time for learning. Vital to success in an online course is your ability to be an independent learner. You will need to be self-disciplined, self-motivated, very organized, and have good time management skills, so that you keep up and stay engaged.
