Black/African American Student Engagement
Black Excellence Welcome
The Black Excellence Welcome is a one-day experience designed for students to engage in interactive activities alongside their peers and BASE ambassadors. This experience introduces students to campus life through specific activities tailored to connect them with essential resources and support services, promoting their cultural and emotional well-being. It also provides an early opportunity for participants to establish connections with student leaders, faculty, and staff.

Black Excellence, Black Male Scholars & NIARA
The Black Excellence Program and Black Male Scholars Program enhance engagement and connection to numerous opportunities. Students will have the chance to interact with dedicated and involved faculty, staff, and peers, fostering meaningful relationships that support their academic, cultural, and emotional well-being. The program also connects participants to numerous student organizations and events, including Paint and Soul, Wing Wednesday, Black History Month, and more!
The NIARA (knee-r-ruh) program is designed to increase a sense of community and belonging, centering the experiences of those that identify as women of color (WOC). Our vision is to create opportunities for WOC to be seen and excel academically, socially, and culturally. This program was initiated by students for students.
