FIT 153: Sailing

This course focuses on knowledge, skills, practical experiences of sailing as a lifelong recreational pursuit. Class covers capsize/recovery, boat safety, navigational rules, knot tying, sailboat structure, equipment and rigging, sail trim and controls, and launching/docking. Students will actively engage in sailing at a local lake. There is a course fee that covers marina charges.

Classes are on the water at the Macatawa Bay Yacht Club (2157 S Shore Dr, Macatawa, MI 49434) on the south side of Holland, MI.  Transportation is provided.  Students may drive themselves.  The professor will contact the class via Blackboard before the first class with details.

This class is held in the fall semester.
