Kyle Barnes

Dr. Barnes’ scholarship focuses on the metabolic cost of running and how to improve running economy. He has received national recognition for his work from the NCAA, who adopted some of his findings to adjust race times achieved on running tracks of differing lengths. Kyle’s most recent research investigating Nike’s “2-hour” running shoe has garnered national and international media attention, and clearly demonstrates the impact of his work. He published seven papers in high-impact factor exercise science journals since being in his current faculty position, all of which have been highly cited by his peers.
