Upon graduating from Grand Valley, Katy accepted a Kindergarten teaching position in a Grand Rapids Public School Dual Language Immersion Program. She teaches completely in Spanish to native Spanish speakers and English speakers. Katy is passionate about bilingual education and sees firsthand how quickly her students become fluent in Spanish through the immersion program. Along with teaching, she attributes much of her Spanish fluency on studying abroad in Guadalajara, Mexico. She loves speaking with the families and enjoys learning more about their culture. She recently completed her Master's degree in Urban Education through Davenport University. Katy is currently a kindergarten Spanish immersion teacher at Ada Vista Elementary which is a part of Forest Hills Public Schools. She is excited to see where Spanish will take her!
