Advanced Summer Institute 2026 - Registration

The Advanced Summer Institute 2026 begins Monday, June 15, 2026 and ends Friday, June 26. Sessions run concurrently with the Invitational Summer Institute and will meet Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

This year, we invite Advanced Institute participants to select a particular genre to study, write, revise and share. Each genre-workshop will meet one day during the first week of the Institute and one day during the second week of the Institute. Interested in more than one genre? Sign up for as many as you'd like!

Monday: Poetry (June 15 & 22)

  • Explore the power of poetry by experimenting with structures in week 1 and revising in week 2\
  • Experience a Writing Marathon
  • Led by Eric Wilkinson, West Ottawa

Tuesday: Narrative (June 16 & 23)

  • Explore the power of narrative through discussion and practice of writing a novel in a month (week 1) and revision fiction (week 2)
  • Led by Dustin Morley, Jenison

Wednesday: Writing/Research Across the Curriculum (June 17 & 24)

  • This cross-curricular study will look writing across disciplines such as AP Psychology (week 1) and delve into learning from mistakes (week 2)
  • Led by Kaley Johnson, Northview

Thursday: Argue 4 Change (June 18 & 25)

  • Use the power of writing for good! Flex your skills and write for activisim (week 1) and then revise those arguments (week 2)
  • Led by Patti Mapes, GRPS

Friday:  Presentations (June 19 & 26)

  • How can Professional Development be improved? Discuss presentation tools and data use (week 1) and get into the nitty gritty of what teachers really need from PD (week 2)
  • Led by Kaley Johnson, Northview, and Eric Wilkinson, West Ottawa
