Queer Connections
The LGBTQ+ FSA is seeking LGBTQIA+ faculty, staff, and graduate students to participate in Queer Connections, GVSU's LGBTQ+ mentorship program. Queer Connections is open to all members of the university community but is specifically designed to match LGBTQIA+ undergraduate students with OUT faculty, staff, or graduate students.
Working with the Milton E. Ford LGBT Resource Center, mentors will be matched with LGBTQIA-identified students. Mentoring pairs will meet regularly over a six-month period during which time they will build connections, explore resources, and work toward collaboratively-constructed goals.
Complete the Mentor Interest Form by Friday, September 26th, 2025 to be considered.

To start the process, fill out our interest form.
All new mentors have an orientation/screening meeting with one or more of the program coordinators when the program kicks off in September/October. This is also when we do matching. If you are matched with a mentee, you will recieve an email notification with contact info for your mentee.
The program coordinators match folks on a variety of factors-shared identities, the mentees stated preferences, the needs they express, etc.
The Queer Connections program is designed for mentees and mentors to meet six times over a six month period, but these meetings can look however you and your mentee decide! Whether they are short phone call check ins, an outing to check out a local restrauant, or a supportive walk to visit to a GVSU resource - however you and your mentee are able to connect is great!
Roughly from October/November to April of the next calendar year.
