New Student Orientation and Registration Committee
Purpose
The purpose of the LAAN New Student Orientation and Registration (NSOR) Subcommittee is to act as a representative body for the LAAN committee on issues regarding orientation and registration for transfer students, FTIAC students, and international students.
About the New Student Orientation and Registration Committee
- Composition
- The NSOR Subcommittee is composed of at least one Academic Advisor per advising center, with representatives from Adult and Continuing Learning and our Traverse City campus. Graduate students are eligible to participate. Anyone interested in joining the subcommittee should connect with the chair. A chair will be elected by the Subcommittee and will report to the LAAN Executive Committee as requested.
- Election Guidelines
- Selected by office based on NSOR coordination
- Terms will default as three years with opportunity to vary depending on NSOR coordination changes
- Officers
- A chair and co-chair will be elected by the NSOR Subcommittee every year and will report to the LAAN Executive Committee as requested.
- The chair and co-chair will be elected by majority vote of the NSOR Subcommittee members.
- Terms will ideally be on a two-year basis, but subject to change depending on advisor responsibility for transfer orientation processes within their respective office.
- Responsibilities
- The NSOR Subcommittee will report to the LAAN Committee and have the following responsibilities:
- to review the GVSU NSOR program and implement changes
- to report to the LAAN Committee any findings and recommendations which are relevant to NSOR
- to run/create at least one project to support transfer students each year
- An admissions representative will be an established/regular guest as needed.
