Purpose

Ensure advisors are aware of current trends in advising, evidence-based practices, and are recognized and appreciated for their work

About the Training and Development Committee

  1. Annually initiate and complete the process to identify nominations and selections of AP staff and faculty for the Outstanding Academic Advising and Student Services Award
  2. Coordinate the planning and implementation of the annual advising start-up meeting
  3. Collaborate with similar groups in the Division of Student Affairs, the Division of Inclusion & Equity, and Enrollment Development, Colleges across the university, and the Pew Faculty Teaching and Learning Center as appropriate to create shared professional development opportunities; a minimum of one event per semester
  4. Develop opportunities for academic advisors to attend and present at advising-related conferences, which can include funding and opportunities to share-back information afterward
