Training and Development Committee
Purpose
Ensure advisors are aware of current trends in advising, evidence-based practices, and are recognized and appreciated for their work
About the Training and Development Committee
- Annually initiate and complete the process to identify nominations and selections of AP staff and faculty for the Outstanding Academic Advising and Student Services Award
- Coordinate the planning and implementation of the annual advising start-up meeting
- Collaborate with similar groups in the Division of Student Affairs, the Division of Inclusion & Equity, and Enrollment Development, Colleges across the university, and the Pew Faculty Teaching and Learning Center as appropriate to create shared professional development opportunities; a minimum of one event per semester
- Develop opportunities for academic advisors to attend and present at advising-related conferences, which can include funding and opportunities to share-back information afterward
