LAKERS TOGETHER: Grand Valley is preparing for successful learning experiences when classes resume on Aug. 31. Learn more about the plan for fall in this handbook.
Coordinated by the Office of Student Life, "I am GV" is a leadership recognition program for GVSU students. Since 2003-2004, the program recognizes student leaders who display and utilize strong leadership skills that contribute to the campus and beyond. As essential elements of the University community, these students include student employees, leaders in student organizations, resident assistants, students that excel in the classroom, and so on. Faculty, staff, and students nominate students through a simple, noncompetitive nomination process that is designed to include many GVSU students. The popular I am GV t-shirts given to and worn by these students encourage campus involvement and student leadership.
“Put yourself out there. Be your genuine self and you’ll find lifelong friendships and relationships.”
“Keep your chin up...stay positive, find your community because it’s here. And if you work to find it, you’ll feel way more at home.”
“The leader makes the title, the title does not make the leader.”
“My curiosity about people and their different stories and things like that definitely helps people who may not feel comfortable here...get into being a part of Grand Valley…”
