Job Summary

Provides support services to Pew Campus community by coordinating multimedia technology services for academic departments and conference service events.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Assemble and install Racks, Servers, Storage Systems and other equipment as required.
  • Install Cabling for Data Center Equipment, including Power, Network and Fiber
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of equipment and all the connections and attributes of the equipment
  • Oversee the disposal of obsolete equipment
  • Oversee the proper installation and system support of Data Center Monitoring and Security Systems including Cameras
  • Install and support Monitoring Software Packages
  • Run routine security and vulnerability Scans
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Non-Essential Functions:

  • Assist Members of the Technical Support Group with System Testing
  • Assist Members of the Technical Support Group with Load Testing
  • Install operating systems on servers and patches when requested

Required Qualifications:

  • High school graduate
  • Minimum of one year experience installing Data Center Equipment (Racks, Servers & Storage)
  • Minimum of one year experience supporting Video Recording System servers
  • Minimum of one year experience overseeing equipment installation, cabling and inventory for a Data Center.
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining and auditing Equipment Inventory
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully maintain positive interpersonal relationships.
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully provide quality customer service.
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully maintain satisfactory work performance and attendance records.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience installing client and server operating systems
  • Demonstrated ability to physically perform the duties of the job such as lifting equipment, connecting up computer equipment including Power, Networking and Fiber Optics

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience developing Monitoring and Reporting tools using Microsoft Visual Studio.
  • Experience with ONSSI Video Recording Software

Supervision Received:

Receives minimal supervision from a designated supervisor.  Much of the work is self-initiated.  Person is expected to function with considerable independence and apply appropriate policies and procedures within the assigned area of responsibility. .

Supervision Exercised:

Hire, train, schedule and coordinate the work of student employees and may act as lead worker to PSS staff members within the department/unit/division.
