Essential Functions
- Perform work typically required in the maintenance and operation of a boiler plant. Including, but not limited to, the maintenance and operation of equipment identified in the qualifications.
- Perform responsibilities and heavy manual labor for extended periods of time (approximately 8-12 hrs/day) even during inclement weather.
- Work at heights up to 70’ or more in confined areas and, at times, during inclement weather. Ascending and descending ladders on and around equipment at various heights. Be able to lift up to 70 lbs.
- Ability to perform manual labor, including bending, stooping and reaching.
- Follow work assignments, instructions and safety standards independently.
- Use computerized EMS to control and monitor the power plant and campus systems.
- Monitor the status of the campus wide fire alarm and security system.
- Interpret gauges, charts, keep complete records, use and interpret various testing devices related to boiler and chiller operation.
- Demonstrated literacy on computer equipment.
- Provide quality customer service to faculty, staff, students and campus visitors.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
Required Qualifications
- Operator license.
- Satisfactory past work performance.
- Minimum of three (3) years experience including trouble shooting and testing on the following, or similar equipment: Sieman Apogee Energy Management System; Compressors & Pneumatic Control Systems; Vacuum Pumps; Chillers and Chilled Water Distribution Systems; High Pressure Boilers; Cooling Tower & Controls; Pumps.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Excellent attendance record.
- Willingness to work all shifts, and overtime when necessary.
- Willingness to work with and direct student staff
Preferred Qualifications
- Possess an active boiler operator license.
