Upon completion of the program students will be able to:
- Apply data content, structure & standards when working with classification systems, health record content and documentation, and data management
- Identify and analyze different forms of information protection: access, disclosure, archival, privacy & security
- Identify and examine the importance of informatics, analytics and data use in health information management
- Apply and analyze the components of revenue management
- Identify and examine the importance of the rules and regulations for compliance
- Identify and examine the important characteristics of leadership

Certifications
Students who receive a B.S. degree in Health Information Management from Grand Valley are eligible to sit for the Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA®) credentialing examination.
