Faculty, staff will repair students' belongings during free event
During the day-to-day busyness of classes and activities on campus, it is not uncommon for students to rip their clothes, misplace a few buttons, or break their eyeglasses, a zipper or a backpack strap. An upcoming Repair Clinic will offer students an opportunity to have all of the above scenarios and more mended by Grand Valley faculty and staff members. The free event will take place October 24 on the Allendale Campus.

Gov. Rick Snyder announced the appointment of Sue Jandernoa and Elizabeth (Beth) Emmitt to the Grand Valley State University Board of Trustees. The eight-year terms begin January 1, 2019.

Student cohort strengthens interfaith conversations on college campuses
A collaborative internship program between five local colleges, including Grand Valley, is providing students with opportunities to develop their interfaith leadership skills and generate interfaith conversations on their own campuses. The cohort was established in 2015 after the Kaufman Interfaith Institute at Grand Valley was awarded a $50,000 grant from the Grand Rapids Community Foundation. The participating schools currently include Grand Valley, Hope College, Calvin College, Aquinas College and Kuyper College.

Symposium to explore access to open educational resources
An upcoming event will celebrate Grand Valley faculty and staff members who strive to develop free and open educational resources for students, and how they incorporate those resources into their classrooms.
