Fall Arts Celebration concert to take audience on musical tour of Italy
Inspired by numerous enjoyable escapes from harsh Russian winters, composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's love of Italy is reflected in his "String Sextet in D Minor, Op. 70 'Souvenir de Florence.'" This musical tour of Italy will be performed by the internationally acclaimed Tesla Quartet and Grand Valley State University music faculty members during this year's Fall Arts Celebration. "An Italian Journey: Tesla Quartet performs Tchaikovsky's 'Souvenir de Florence'" will take place September 17.

Grand Valley State University has once again been named a top university in the Midwest by U.S. News & World Report. In the "2019 Best Colleges rankings" Grand Valley ranked 1st among Michigan's public universities and 3rd overall in the category for "Top Public Regional Universities in the Midwest."

GVSU enrollment shows increase in first-year students, diversity
Grand Valley State University welcomed one of its largest first-year classes in its history. The university has enrolled more than 4,000 first-year students for the seventh year in a row, and they are coming in with stellar academic records and taking more classes. This is one of the highest freshman enrollments in Michigan, which is seeing a decline in the number of high school graduates.
