Open tours, holiday concert planned for Grand Valley carillon towers

On November 28, the Grand Valley community is invited to tour the Cook Carillon Tower on the Allendale Campus. Hosted by University Communications, the tours will be facilitated by Julianne Vanden Wyngaard, university carillonneur, who will also perform a holiday concert on the Beckering Family Carillon on December 24 on the Pew Grand Rapids Campus.

Fall Arts Celebration holiday concert to honor "The Many Moods of Christmas"

Robert Shaw's "The Many Moods of Christmas" meshes together pieces of 18 of the most traditional carols combined with music from famous composers such as Handel, Bizet and Bach. Renowned choral conductor Craig Jessop will lead the Grand Valley State University Arts Chorale and local high school students as they perform the piece during a special Fall Arts Celebration concert. "Celebrating Holiday Splendor: Craig Jessop Conducts - 'The Many Moods of Christmas'" will take place December 3.

Grand Valley's Student Services and Inclusion and Equity departments have teamed to bring panels from the NAMES Project Foundation AIDS Memorial Quilt to campus next week prior to World AIDS Day on December 1.

Students curating art exhibit for display in Sustainable Agriculture Project

A group of Lakers are developing an art exhibition that will showcase work by artists from around the U.S. in a unique venue near campus. "System Processing" will be on display at Grand Valley's Sustainable Agriculture Project, the university's educational farm located just north of the Allendale Campus, from 6-9 p.m. on November 29-30 with a reception taking place November 29.

Visual and Media Arts students to showcase capstone work during multiple exhibitions

More than 20 students from the Visual and Media Arts Department will showcase works that represent the culmination of their educational experiences at Grand Valley. Multiple exhibitions, from graphic design and photography to metals, printmaking and painting, will be on display beginning November 26.

Design thinking expert to host community workshops at Grand Valley

A design thinking expert will help Grand Valley students, faculty and the West Michigan community solve challenges through multiple design thinking workshops. Ela Ben-Ur has more than 20 years of experience consulting, coaching and teaching in design thinking research, strategy and innovation. During her career, she has collaborated with notable brands, including General Motors, Advil, IAMS Company and PowerBar. Ben-Ur will present "Design Thinking and You" on November 27.
