GPY 380/328: Urban Ecological Design
Want to install nature? What are the opportunities in GR?
Explore and evaluate the ecological potential of the designed
urban
environment. Students will study and evaluate the
relationships between urban
design and ecological performance
through a series of case studies, field
explorations, and site
work. Grand Rapids will be used as a test site for analysis and
applied work regarding vegetation, stormwater management, energy,
and
pollution. Mapping and quantitative scientific methods at a
variety of scales will be
used in collaboration with local partners.
