Position Summary:
The Charlevoix County Equalization Department is looking for a full-time or part-time summer intern to work under the supervision of the Equalization Director. We are flexible with scheduling, including start and end dates of internship, as well as number of days or hours per week. This position also provides paid time off, based on your anticipated schedule.
Primary Duties:
The intern will assist the Equalization Director in completing new or ongoing GIS projects. They will also assist the Equalization Department with answering phones and helping the public when full-time Equalization staff are unavailable, as well as assisting with Equalization fieldwork consisting of property visits to measure, photograph, and inventory property improvements for appraisals purposes if needed.
Mandatory Requirements:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Candidate must be enrolled in, or have completed, post-secondary education in GIS or a closely related program
- Knowledge of GIS principles and be familiar with ESRI ArcGIS Desktop and/or Pro
Job Location/ Working Conditions:
This position is primarily based in a climate-controlled office building atmosphere where the candidate will be sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time at a single workstation. Must have the physical ability to twist, bend, and flex to facilitate the handling of large maps and documents in conjunction with printing and filing. This position also requires the knowledge of and physical ability to use all standardly accepted forms of office equipment and supplies. Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds.
