WGVU-FM announced on March 24 it is a finalist for the Michigan Association of Broadcasters Station Excellence Award. The award recognizes Michigan radio and television stations that demonstrate excellence in overall performance, including programming, community service and marketing.

The MAB’s Broadcast Excellence Awards Gala will be April 29 at the MotorCity Casino Hotel in Detroit.

This year, WGVU-FM was honored with five best-in-category awards, including Feature/Use of a Medium; Marketing Materials & Promos; Musical Programming; Newscast; and Special Interest & Cultural Programming. Additionally, WGVU-FM is a finalist for Community Involvement.

"Individual successes are always celebrated," said Patrick Center, WGVU news and public affairs director. "This past year proved WGVU has many talented colleagues performing at a high level. Taken together, the MAB accomplishments demonstrate an impressive team effort."

WGVU-FM strives for excellence in broadcasting by providing quality programming for its listeners and engaging in meaningful community outreach initiatives.

“It’s exciting to see the hard work our local team puts in each day recognized for its impact and excellence,” Jim Rademaker, WGVU general manager, said.

WGVU's broadcast stations are licensed to Grand Valley as public radio and television facilities, operating from the Meijer Public Broadcast Center on the Pew Grand Rapids Campus.
