Mary L. Horan, retired dean
Mary L.
Horan, retired dean of the Kirkhof College of Nursing, died April
12, 2022. She was 86.
Horan was the first in her family to attend college, earning a bachelor's degree in nursing from Mercy College, master's degree in nursing from Wayne State University and a doctoral degree from the University of Michigan.
Horan taught at Wayne State and Michigan State universities before becoming dean of KCON. Memorials are suggested to Northern Community Mediation in Petoskey.
Frank Blossom, retired affiliate faculty member
Frank Blossom, retired affiliate faculty member in advertising
and public relations, died April 2, 2022. He was 75.
Before joining the School of Communications, Blossom worked as creative director at Leo Burnett, D’Arcy, Noble & Associates and Felder Communications Group on national campaigns. In 2010, he received The Silver Medal, the American Advertising Federation’s highest honor to professionals.
Blossom retired from GVSU in 2018. Memorials are suggested to The Frank Fund, established to support professional development opportunities for advertising and public relations students.
