Faculty and staff members who have given presentations, were recognized for outstanding contributions or had their research published are detailed below. The campus community can submit a sketch online for future publication.

Teaching and learning faculty members Megan Freudigmann and Sheryl Vlietstra, along with GVSU alumni, were interviewed by MLive for a story about a partnership with a nonprofit that helps new teachers stock their classroom bookshelves.

Tory Martin, director of communication and strategic partnerships for the Johnson Center for Philanthropy, was interviewed by Yahoo Life for a story about Gen Z and their philanthropy.

Patrick Shan, professor of history, was interviewed by WZZM TV for a live story about the Lunar New Year.

Paul Isely, professor of economics and associate dean for the Seidman College of Business, was interviewed by WHTC Radio for a story about the regional economic outlook for 2025 and by FOX 17 for a story about Michigan businesses preparing for the impact of tariffs.

Al Steinman, Allen and Helen Hunting research professor at AWRI, was interviewed by MLive for a story about confusion over the status of federally funded research grants. Steinman was also interviewed by the Great Lakes Echo about lake nutrients and the Ottawa News Network about the Spring Lake restoration project.

Brian Johnson, professor of criminology, criminal justice and legal studies, was interviewed by Capital News Service for a story in the Alpena News about legislation to add corrections officers to the state police pension program.

Sketches
Writing faculty members Christopher Toth and Samantha Dine gave a presentation, "Interning Abroad: Assessing Experiential Learning with Scottish Charities," at the International Conference for the Association of Business Communication.

Polly Diven, professor of political science, gave a presentation, "Women in War Rooms: Testing the Impact of Female Leadership on Foreign Policy Decision-Making," at the International Security Studies Association Meeting.

Jaclyn Cwick, associate professor of criminology, criminal justice and legal studies, wrote an article, "Incarceration and Women's and Men's Forms of Capital and Social Control: A Gendered Test of Coercive Mobility," published in the Journal of Crime and Justice and was a co-author of an article, "Examining Firearm Offenses: Social Disorganization, Proximity from Home, and Crime Type," published in Crime & Delinquency.

Ian Cleary, associate professor of biomedical sciences, was a co-author of an article, "The Effects of Carbonate on Candida albicans Filamentation, Biofilm Formation, and Antifungal Resistance," published in Microbiology Open.

Don Zinman, professor of political science, wrote a book, America’s First Wartime Election, published by the University Press of Kansas.
