recognized for outstanding contributions or had their research

Amy Schelling, associate dean of the College of
Education and Community Innovation, was interviewed by MLive for a story
about the MI Future Educator Program, which offers scholarships
to students who commit to teaching in a Michigan public school.
Sketches Travis Kulpa, assistant professor of
management, received the 2024
Doctoral Dissertation Award from the Council of Supply Chain
Management Professionals for his dissertation at the University of
Arkansas, "How Supply Chains Respond to Disruptions: Three Essays
on Responses to Operational, Geopolitical, and Natural Disaster Disruptions."
Jesse Bernal, vice president for strategy and chief
of staff to the president, was reappointed by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to
the Hispanic/Latino Commission of Michigan to a term that will end in 2027.
Karen Zivi, professor of political science, wrote a
chapter, "Epilogue: On Retraining the Senses," published in
a book, Feminist
Theory: Two Conversations, by Palgrave Macmillan.
Adrienne A. Wallace, associate professor of
advertising and public relations, was elected to the Commission on
Public Relations Education Board of Directors as a director-at-large.
She will continue working as the delegate to the Journal of Public
Relations Education in this role and as co-chair of the research committee.
Charles Pazdernik, professor of Classics, was a
panelist and gave a presentation during a conference, "I Do
Solemnly Swear": Oaths In Long Late Antiquity, hosted by the
University of Hamburg in Germany.
CECI faculty members Megan Freudigmann (pictured) and Sheryl Vlietstra were interviewed for a story about a partnership that gives future teachers books for their classrooms in exchange for volunteer hours.
Kevin Strychar, professor of water resources, gave a media interview about how climate change impacts the Great Lakes; John Weber, professor of geology, received an award from a research foundation.
Hospitality and tourism management faculty members Scott Rood and John Lipford had an article about cannabis curriculum published in the Journal of Tourism Insights.
