Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
This semester I've been helping with the qualification and calibration of fixtures used in a new process, PTFE etching. I've also been helping to manufacture the PTFE tubes through blow molding, laser cutting, and tipping.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I have strengthened my technical report writing skills and expanded my knowledge of manufacturing processes to blow molding, laser cutting, and chemical etching.
Favorite Part of the Experience
I am in charge of the 3D print machine this rotation so I enjoy managing that and exploring the most efficient ways to print a part.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
This experience has solidified my interest in manufacturing and hands on work. I know that a desk job that involves a lot of paperwork is not for me, I need to be up and moving and solving problems first hand.
