The Grand Rapids Griffins are an AHL hockey team directly affiliated with the Detroit Red Wings. They play all home games at Van Andel Arena in downtown Grand Rapids to a crowd of 10,000+ fans.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
Provide customer service for complaints, sales, or unique situations, sell single game tickets, assist in game operations, and setup suites/premium seats before the game.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I learned how to better communicate for customer services and gained a lot of knowledge in computer software to sell tickets. Also learned how to effectively work in group settings while also taking charge when dealing with issues alone.
Favorite Part of the Experience
I loved being able to put a smile on people's faces after helping them get into the hockey games, it felt rewarding to hear the roar of the crowd during the game and knowing that my group was able to help get these fans to the game.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
This internship has further motivated me to get into sales or operations for bigger organizations. Working with this group has been amazing and I hope that my future job site can be as much fun as this was working with the new friends I have.
