Description of the Organization

Michigan Sports Academies is a multi-facility and multipurpose sport organization that houses a multitude of sport events and competitions. We also have our own sport organizations inside the MSA family; we have MVA for Volleyball, MFA for soccer, MLXA for lacrosse and MBA for basketball.

Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed

During the internship I was tasked with set up and tear down of daily sports events, phone calls for the different leagues we hosted, creating schedules and being apart of the brainstorming process for new ideas for potential growth during SWOT analysis development. As well as taking inventory for the building and other day to day tasks that arose.

Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience

I gained a better understanding of what Building Managers have to do on their day to day work. I learned how to properly schedule employees, develop schedules for incoming rentals, and what goes into hosting a multitude of leagues during the week.

Favorite Part of the Experience

My favorite part of the internship was the relationships forged from the experience. Also working closely with the basketball program was a great experience being able to meet all of them.

How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals

It has shown me that this is the field that I want to work in. This is the type of people I want to work with, and the type of atmosphere I want to be in. It has confirmed what I thought going into this semester.
