Description of the Organization
This is a family owned organization/arena. There is a small office staff as well as a 10-15 box office/ticketing staff and 10-15 concessions staff members as well.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
As an assistant to the event directors, I aided with event organization, ticket sales, and logistics. On event days, I acted as contact person for vendors and promotors and also helped out around the arena where needed. This included working parking, box office, in concessions, and security. I also aided in event setup and execution.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I learned ticket sales, event work orders from a venue perspective, settlements for post events, and a different way to have a venue work.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part was working the Grand Rapids Drive games and seeing how they operate from the venue aspect.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
This experiences has showed me that I truly want to be involved in the sports world behind the scenes.
