Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
During my time at Magna, I've had the hands-on opportunity to characterize and build mirrors products. I have also been given the opportunity to work directly with multiple leaders of various groups within the organization. I've conducted experiments in both lab and manufacturing floor settings, developed internal product specifications, and benchmarked various products to support my team in bringing mobility forward for all.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I've learned fundamental skills required of an engineer in the workplace such as communication, time-management, ensuring quality of work through attention to detail, self-ownership and accountability to name a few. I've also learned to establish systems for myself that bring me efficient and effective results when completing tasks - paramount to the fast-paced & demanding automotive industry. Some of the most priceless knowledge and experience has come from just sitting in a room filled with leaders and watching them think, discuss, and devise plans to move a project forward and maximize its impact.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part of this co-op experience has been the opportunity to work with an agile team of leaders who strive for innovation, efficiency, and excellence. This has been a very big driver behind my growth as it pushes me to struggle, learn, then execute to the best of my ability.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
With the experience I've attained so far in the automotive industry, I would like to pursue a career in this field. My passion for cars has led me to this industry and it has continued to drive me to always be curious and strive to be a better engineer.
