Description of the Organization
Progressive Surface makes blast peen, thermal spray, and waterjet machines for many customers. There are about 12 controls/electrical engineers located in building 2.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
Tasks include setting up PCs for machines, creating documents and manuals, and working on PLCs. There is also work done in AutoCAD Electrical updating drawings for projects. I was also given the opportunity to join the electrical assembly team for a week to experience building panels and control enclosures.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I learned how to work in AutoCAD Electrical and how to work with ladder logic for PLCs.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part about the co-op experience was working with other professional engineers and the team here was amazing. My co-workers were knowledgeable and helpful.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
It has helped me gain an understanding of how engineering work is done in the field and helped me figure out what I want to do with my engineering degree.
