Description of the Organization
103.5 WAWL is a locally owned, non-profit, low powered radio station located in Grand Haven ran by Eric Kaelin. The station plays rock hits and also has a presence in the Grand Haven community. 103.5 broadcasts live for high school sporting events as well as other events taking place in the area. The station does so much for the community.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
During this internship, I was on air from 9-11 on Monday's and Wednesday's. I played music and talked between songs. I also helped run concerts the station put together and broadcasted live from them. I also helped fundraise for the station.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I became very comfortable with talking on the air. Eric throws you right into the mix which helps you get better in the field.
Favorite Part of the Experience
I loved working for Eric. He was a great boss and had a lot to teach.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
This internship helped me realize exactly what I want to do after I graduate.
