Description of the Organization

Special Olympics Michigan is a large non-profit that spreads inclusivity and awareness for our community that is disabled. It is the largest sport organization in the world for children and adults with intellectual disabilities and was founded in 1968.

Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed

During this internship, I led 3 different programs: Young Athletes, SOMIFit, and Developmental Sport (Health & Wellness). I specifically created practice plans, led programs, and prepared for the developmental sport tournament.

Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience

I was able to get more insight on SOMI and its programs that they have available.

Favorite Part of the Experience

My favorite part of this internship was getting to know the athletes and the other interns!

How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals

My future career goal is to work full-time for the Special Olympics, so this was a perfect opportunity to see what positions might be available to me moving forward.
