Description of the Organization

Feel Like You Belong is a web-based television show that is filmed at WKTV in Wyoming, MI.

Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed

I created newsletters and helped tag YouTube videos. During the shoot, I greeted guests and had them sign release forms and ran the teleprompter while filming. I also assist in putting together the set.

Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience

I learned what it was like to work in a television studio. Time management skills, when there was a task asked of me, I had to schedule it and make sure it was completed as soon as possible. I learned it was always great to keep in touch with the supervisor and let them know how your progress with the assignment. Teleprompter. Introducing yourself properly to the guests, don't be shy! I learned the stories about the guests who come from different parts of the world and their inspiring stories on how they became who they are today. One of the former interns also gave me a brief lesson on technical directing.

Favorite Part of the Experience

My favorite part of the internship was the working environment and the wonderful people I got to work with. There's always been a part of me that was interested in sound equipment, just looking at it was very intriguing. When I saw the studio for the first time, it was just like walking into a set for a play. I was also excited to see the equipment we would be working with too. Alan and the rest of the interns were all so kind. Working with them was an enjoyable and memorable time. They were easy to talk to and work with.

How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals

I would like to get into voice-over. Even though this is a free-lance job that I could do part-time, interning for Feel Like You Belong inspired me to find work in a television or radio studio after I graduate. This was just the kind of environment I wanted to be in for future employment.
