Description of the Organization
Lakeshore High School is one of the more successful High School programs in the state known for its Football, Basketball, Wrestling, Baseball and Softball. Lakeshore is a Class A school, allowing me the opportunity to work in a district with a large number of students with lots of opportunities to work. It was a great experience and a great school to learn from people that shared a passion for High School athletics.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
At Lakeshore I learned how to run a successful High School athletic event. I was given many tasks that varied from day to day. I got the opportunity to work in the office to learn the daily roles and tasks that an Athletic Director would encounter. Each day I was presented with a new assignment that would help me learn the different roles you would be doing or giving as an Athletic Director.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I gained the different ways in which I can run an Athletic Department. Having already worked in a High School athletic department, this internship gave me great insight into what does and does not work when it comes to the role of an athletic director.
Favorite Part of the Experience
The opportunity to learn from a very successful program, as well as having a new day bring on a new challenge is what made my experience at my internship fun.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
Before I started working in a role of an Athletic Director I did not know for sure if I wanted to do it as a career. Throughout my time it made me want to pursue that profession as I get older.
