Description of the Organization
JR Automation designs, builds, and integrates automation solutions for customers all over the world. They are located primarily in Holland and are unique because they are made up of several business units. Each business unit is independent of each other and so are the projects they work on.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
I was assigned to one main project this semester that allowed me more individual responsibility, while still having a mentor to guide me. I was able to help through the debug process of the machine which included updating HMI screens, PLC programs, and teaching points for robots.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I primarily worked on one project during this rotation that involved Robots, PLCs, HMIs, a dial, and several conveyors. I was also able to get experience updating print packages and learning more about the debug process. I gained confidence in my abilities to be a successful engineer in this field.
Favorite Part of the Experience
This rotation allowed me to grow into a more confident engineer. I was able to see the direct impact my work had on the overall project which was very satisfying.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
This experience has solidified my career goals and has given the opportunity to explore controls engineering as a potential future. I really enjoy the immediate results of my work during the debug process because I can see the difference my work is making.
