Description of the Organization
JR Automation Technologies is automation company based in Holland, Michigan. They design, build and deliver engineering and manufacturing solutions to manufacturing companies. The organization has a few hundred employees with everything from engineers, accountants, builders etc.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
Got to be a part of a machine design team that takes requirements and specifications from customers and create machine solutions for them in CAD. I have gotten to experience starting small projects and working by myself but also being part of a group for greater projects. My work has involved 3D design in CAD, checking other designers work for errors and mistakes. Also gotten the opportunity to work with builders and make modifications on existing machines.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
CAD, machine design experience, and working as team. Achieved a greater knowledge in especially Pro-E but also in SolidWorks.
Favorite Part of the Experience
Best part was to actually being part of something real. Not something design for classroom purposes but real life projects and the people I got to get acquainted but also get experience from.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
It has influenced me in the way that I know, even if I have a while before i graduate, that I am on the right track and want to be an engineer.
