Description of the Organization
There are about 50 engineers that would in the established business of the plant with about 8 engineers dedicated to developing future valvetrain technology. The company recently had a sizable investment from the corporate overlords that brought new business to the plant.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
I completed various activities regarding development of cam phasing technology. I also worked on completely a few test requests to support other product engineering activities.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I gained a deeper understanding of how cam phasers functioned. I also learned about how important it is that measurements are taken correctly.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part of this co-op was getting to function as a product engineer. I got this opportunity because one of the product engineers they had, had to leave.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
I still would like to be a product engineer, though now I see more of a need for validation engineers or for product engineers who understand reliability better.
