Peter Basso INC. is a consulting firm that creates mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. They mostly work on buildings but there has been projects and bridges and streetscapes. Peter Basso INC is an employee-owned company. The company has about 100 employees. The company is structured in multiple groups for the different uses of buildings. These groups are Heathcare, Higher ed, K-12 and Corporate/Government.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
I have designed lighting systems for buildings. I have helped in research on emergency generators. I have designed the layout of receptacles for office spaces. Lastly, I learned how to the use Revit, CAD and AFI.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I learned how to use Revit and CAD. I learned how to circuit mechanical devices. For example, duct fans. I have learned the general process of a job from start to finish.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part of the CO-OP would be the site visits or learning about power distribution. I think the site visits are interesting because you can see older electrical systems. I just think power distribution is interesting even though I do not work on it that much.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
Yes, this experience has influenced my career goals. It has showed that you can find engineering jobs that are not a part of the car industry in Michigan.
