Description of the Organization

The organization was a campaign for the 73 District House of Representatives. Brady Middleton was the candidate whom I interned for.

Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed

I did mostly research on townships and communities. I found out the most important town aspects were, meeting dates, events, parades, and current community projects. I also edited many fliers, thank you emails, etc. In addition I was an admin for the Facebook and Twitter pages, while also proofreading and providing a different perspective for the website.

Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience

I gained research skills via the internet. Furthering that, I learn the art of communicating with townships and getting a hold of them to ask questions. I also gained a lot of knowledge about the different townships around me as well as how the election process for state legislation took place.

Favorite Part of the Experience

My favorite part was giving feedback. I felt that my opinion and perspective were taken very seriously. I could see the candidate using my views in a new way to reach his audience. This made me feel important and like I was contributing.

How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals

Well, I know now that I do not want to be a politician. It was not a goal of mine to begin. However, the uncertainty, competition, and over stress from campaign season confirmed my views on what it would be like to be a politician.
