Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed

I gave my input for the 2013 National Drug Control Strategy, some of which will be included in the 2013 Strategy. I focused a lot of Prescription Drug use, Prescription Drug Monitoring Programs, and the effects drug use can have on pregnant women. I studied a variety of laws, and put together a variety of documents for internal use as well.

Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience

I gained different research skills that I did not have before I began my internship. Another important skill that I have developed is networking. I did not notice the full value of this skill until I began my internship, and this is a skill that I have developed a lot.

Favorite Part of the Experience

My favorite part of this experience was being able to intern with an Executive Office of the President. I learned a lot about the administration, got a tour of the West and East Wing, and so much more. This experience has been incredible.

How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals

Yes! I came to D.C. thinking I wanted to be a lawyer; I am leaving with different goals in mind. I want to take the Public Policy route instead. I love being in the Policy world, and I want to pursue a career in this field.
