Description of the Organization
JR Automation makes designs, builds, and programs custom manufacturing machines for companies. This process involves designing, building, and programming the machine on our factory floor. Once the programming is complete the machines get torn down and rebuilt on the customers factory.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
As a controls engineering, I am responsible for programming these machines using PLCs (Programmable logic controllers, and HMIs (Human Machine Interfaces). Other responsibilities include using AutoCAD Electrical to design and update machine electrical documentation.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
PLC programming, HMI Design, AutoCAD Electrical, computer vision. Developed skills in programming and commissioning Servo Drives, VFDs, PLCs, and HMIs. Learned about hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical control systems.
Favorite Part of the Experience
Writing and debugging machine controls on the shop floor.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
I am now pursing a career in controls engineering.
