Description of the Organization
Dzanc Books is a publishing company located in Michigan, where editorial interns evaluate and critique multiple submissions, including contest submissions with possible publishing potential.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
This internship was remote, so, in a week, we reviewed three books within a week, submitted critiques on them, and if they fit Dzanc, what the audience was, and the book's potential. We also had weekly meetings discussing and asking questions about the publishing and writing world.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I gained detailed knowledge of the publishing world and its many facets. I gained experience where my skills would best fit in the field and how I can better use them.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part was the meetings with our supervisor because Michelle Dotter was always so open to questions and talking openly about the field.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
I feel that my path has been better directed, and my skills refined enough for me to feel confident, looking for jobs in the publishing field.
