JR Automation designs and builds custom machines. Many of the machines are for assembly and many employ the use of robots.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
*Designed electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic prints for machines. *Standard electrical codes and practices *Wrote machine PLC logic and programmed HMI screens *Some robot programming *Camera/Vision work (part defect/presence) *In general figured out how hardware worked and how to use it.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
*PLC, HMI and robot programming *Learned how to create electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic prints *Learn about many different sensors, actuators, motors, and anything that goes on a machine.
Favorite Part of the Experience
Writing logic for machines. I also enjoyed programming robots. The best part is seeing the final product running at full speed.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
Yes. Before I worked at JR I didn't plan on going into controls. Now I am seriously considering it.
