Description of the Organization
Dornerworks is an embedded engineering solutions company. It is comprised of a small team with around 80 employees. The engineers are led by project managers and team leads which may overlap for each employee as a lot of the work is project based.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
This rotation I was tasked with maintaining and debugging a complex IoT commercial washer/dryer software. This included a complex state machine which controlled motors and relays and wayer valves for the carious washers.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I got in depth knowledge with touchscreen applications and signaling. The app was mostly written in c++ and was a class based application with multiple moving parts.
Favorite Part of the Experience
Being onboarded into an ongoing a project was a fun process as lots of tooling had to be downloaded and you get to see the development process as you explore the codebase as well as the coding practices that are maintained during the process.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
It has made me double down on wanting to enter the embedded engineering world as a future career.
