Principals visit GVSU for Leadership Forum Launch

On August 6, the GVSU Charter Schools Office hosted dozens of principals from GVSU-authorized charter public schools for the Leadership Forum Launch, a dynamic and collaborative session to kick off the new K-12 school year.
The gatherings centered on the Indicators of Distress , a framework developed by WestEd and the National Charter School Institute, which helps schools identify early signs of organizational challenges and school health.
In addition to this critical focus, participants learned about:
- GVSU's "Impact 30" innovation grant initiative, created to celebrate 30 years of charter school authorization at GVSU
- Scholar Success programming
- New laws for K-12 schools that take effect this fall
- Community resources spotlights
- Additional supports from the GVSU CSO available throughout the year
The next phase of the 2025-26 Leadership Forum will be optional learning walks in mid-November. These walks give leaders the opportunity to visit other GVSU charter schools to see high-quality practices in action.
