Non-Credentialed Programming Experience
Do you have a significant background in programming/coding, but lack the formal credit or certification? (View currently recognized forms of prior learning at GVSU).
If this applies to you, answer the questions below to help determine which programming course is the right start for your academic journey!
Questions to Consider
• Are you comfortable with lists (arrays) and dictionaries (hash maps)?
• Have you written a program with two or more classes that interact together?
• Have you written a program that reads/writes data to a file?
• Was your previous coding experience in Python (or another object-oriented language like Java or C++)?
• Did you write "large" programs with 100-300 lines of code and multiple classes based on specification?
• Do you have a strong knowledge of variables, if/else statements, functions, loops, object-oriented design principles, and working with files?
If you answered "yes" to all of the above questions, you may be prepared for our intermediate programming course (CIS 163). To discuss your options, please get in touch with our office:
